Training, as well as being useful in terms of the efficiency of a business is a requirement of health and safety legislation.

For example, s2((2)(c) of the Health and Safety At Work etc. Act 1974 requires of employers:

bulletthe provision of such information, instruction, training and supervision as is necessary to ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, the health and safety at work of his employees;

Training is also a requirement of other health and safety legislation, for example in:

bulletThe Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999;
bulletThe Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (which includes a requirement for training in Abrasive Wheels);
bulletThe Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002;
bulletThe Personal Protective Equipment Regulations 1992

Islay Safety Services is an accredited IOSH Course Provider. The two most popular IOSH courses are offered, but if demand is sufficient others can be arranged. For a description of each of the IOSH-certificated courses please click on the 'IOSH Courses' button to the left.

A number of general basic courses are also available, for example a 2-hour non-examined basic health and safety workshop to introduce the subject of health and safety to your employees - this is useful prior to a certificated course being undertaken.

While general courses are useful, it is often best to gear training to the needs of an organisation. For this reason a number of industry-specific courses have been developed and if required courses can be modified to suit your organisation. Please contact us to discuss your requirements.

Industry-specific courses includes:

bulletAgriculture
bulletConstruction
bulletWorkshop-based
bulletOffice-based
bulletFood preparation and retailing
