Noise Assessments carried out

The Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005 come into force on 6th April 2006, and contains specific requirements in relation to assessment of the noise levels to which workers and others are exposed. In the case of the music and entertainment industry (e.g. bars, pubs, restaurant, disco, nightclubs), the Regulations do not come into force until 6th April 2008, and for sea-going ships the full set of Regulations will not apply until 6th April 2011.

The Risk Assessment required should be 'suitable and sufficient' and will in many cases require measurements to be taken in order to determine the exposure. Many organisations are currently carrying out assessments. Islay Safety Services can undertake noise assessments on your behalf, and may be able to help on any aspect of occupational or environmental noise. Please contact us if you need help or advice.
